Moser Baer Solar Ltd has entered into a distribution partnership with Munro Distributing Company Inc of the US for marketing its solar photovoltaic modules.

Commenting on the tie-up, Dr Rajiv Arya, CEO, Solar Business, Moser Baer India, told Business Line that “we have commenced shipments and we see revenues of $7-$10 million over the next 12 months from this partnership alone in the US. Further, we see three to four times growth thereafter, which is the expected growth in the US market. This partnership covers the commercial and residential segment.”

Munro, with 11 locations in four States on the East and West coasts of the US, will offer MBSL's multi-crystalline silicon solar modules and utilise them to design commercial turnkey solar PV systems for its customers.

According to the European Photovoltaic Industry Association, globally, there was been an increase of about 16 gigawatts of new solar PV installations in 2010 and the US accounted for only 0.8 GW of this growth. Significantly, the US market is likely to grow from 1GW in 2010 to 3GW in 2012.

“We have been expanding our presence in the emerging markets by building partnerships with key players. I am certain that Munro's presence in the US and Moser Baer Solar's highly bankable quality certified modules will positively impact the partnership,” Mr Arya said.
