The National Research Development Corporation (NRDC), under the Ministry of Science & Technology, has entered a licence agreement with Nagarjuna Agro Chemicals Pvt Ltd for commercialisation of a soil moisture indicator device.

“The technical knowhow has now been licensed to Nagarjuna Agro Chemicals Pvt Ltd, Hyderabad. The company plans to take this technology across the country through a network of dealers and through different support schemes of the Department of Agricultural and other allied departments in various States,” said a Ministry release.

The electronic device is simple and user-friendly and has been developed by the Sugarcane Breeding Institute, under the Indian Council of Agriculture Research (ICAR), Coimbatore. “The Intellectual Property Rights of the technology are being protected under the Indian Patent and Design Acts,” the release added.

The formal licence agreement was signed by H. Purushotham, CMD, NRDC, and Neeta Zanvar, Director, Nagarjuna Agro Chemicals.
