Olectra-BYD has announced it has deployed more than 100 electric buses in India, including 40 buses being introduced in Hyderabad.

This makes it the first EV company in the country to cross the milestone of having over 100 electric buses commercially plying successfully on Indian roads.

The company now has 108 electric buses deployed in Himachal Pradesh, Kerala, Telangana and Maharashtra. They are being run in Mumbai, Pune and now in Hyderabad.

Olectra-BYD is seeking to redefine the public transport with its EVs and has demonstrated their success including in steep gradient in Kullu-Manali-Rohtang Pass in Himanchal Pradesh, rainy plains and hilly terrain of Kerala and congested Mumbai and Pune.

With the induction of 40 electric buses of 12-meter length, Olectra has enabled Telangana State Road Transport Corporation to deploy the largest fleet of electric buses by any State Transport Utility the country.

This is also for the first time in the country that an electric bus of 12-meter long buses have been deployed commercially in the Public Transport service.

These 40 electric buses will ferry people to the Hyderabad International Airport from various locations in the city.

These buses have 39+1 (Driver) seat configuration and supported by monocoque chassis. These buses run for over 250 km on a single charge and have Regenerative Braking System which enables the bus to recover part of the energy lost in braking.

Established in 2000, Olectra Greentech Limited is a public listed company and is now part of infrastructure major MEIL Group. It has been offering these buses through a strategic tie up with BYD of China.
