Chennai-based pharma company Orchid Chemicals & Pharmaceuticals has said that its Cephalosporin API manufacturing complex in Alathur, Chennai, has cleared the recent USFDA inspection.
“We have been manufacturing Cephalosporin API since 1994. This is a periodic inspection done every few years. Manufacturing API is a stringent process as it related to chemicals and dictated by quality,” said a company spokesperson.
The Alathur facility manufactures a range of oral and sterile Cephalosporin APIs (it is an antibiotic used to treat infection and inflammation) and caters to developed markets such as the US, Europe and Japan.
“This successful inspection would help the continuing supply of the niche APIs manufactured by Orchid in this location to the developed markets,” said the company release.
