Swedish beauty and cosmetics firm Oriflame on Thursday said it will launch around 350 products in India this year and plans to double the number of service centres it operates in the country to over 500.

“We launched 272 products last year. This year we will be launching 350 products across all the categories, including skin care, hair care, fragrances and colour cosmetics,” Oriflame India Managing Director Mr Marcus Sandstrom told reporters here.

The Managing Director of the firm — which has launched a range of bridal clutch bags designed by Indian designer Mr Rohit Bal — said a major chunk of its business currently comes from metros and it is now looking at expanding its reach into smaller cities.

“We will be taking the number of service centres from 225 to 500 this year. It will be spread across the country. A major portion of our revenues comes from the metros. We want to expand and get into tier-II and tier-III cities,” Mr Sandstrom said.

Asked if the company is likely to effect any price hikes due to rising input costs, Mr Sandstrom said Oriflame will raise the rates for some products in a phased manner, but not all of them.

Oriflame India, which is part of the €1.35 billion Swedish firm, is growing at the rate of 40 per cent in the country, which is one of the top 10 markets for beauty and cosmetic products globally.
