Chief Minister Oommen Chandy has discussed with representatives of Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd (BPCL) status of the pet coke power plant proposed to be set up as part of Kochi Refineries Ltd (KRL).
He directed them to prepare a detailed project report and also asked them to initiate steps to prepare an environment impact assessment report.
The BPCL representatives informed him that petroleum coke generated at the refinery after it undergoes proposed expansion work would have the capacity to produce 3,700 million units of electricity.
Electricity Minister Aryadan Mohammed and Industries Minister P.K. Kunhalikkutty were present at the meeting.
