The Rashtriya Ispat Nigam Limited (the Visakhapatnam Steel Plant) sold 8.28 lakh tonnes of steel until July-end, against a total sales volume of 6.18 lakh tonnes during the corresponding period last year, a growth of 34 per cent, according to a company press release.
Sales turnover during the April-July period rose to Rs 3,733 crore against Rs 2,372 crore last year, a growth of 57 per cent. The company also registered a sales volume of 6.40 lakh tonnes of value-added steel (VAS) against 4.70 lakh tonnes during the same period last year, representing a growth of 36 per cent. Project sales of 2.02 lakh tonnes was achieved during the period against 1.49 lakh tonnes, a growth of 36 per cent.
The company continued to excel in production, expansion and marketing areas during July, the release stated. Several auxiliary units were commissioned during the month, which involved 45 per cent of the cost of expansion programme ahead of integrated commissioning of major units like blast furnace, steel melt shop and rolling mills.
