REpower Systems SE, a subsidiary of Suzlon Group, has signed a deal with EDF EN Canada Inc., for delivery of wind turbines for a 350-MW project in Quebec, Canada.
The Riviere-du-Moulin wind farm, with a total rated output of 350 MW, would be the largest project for REpower, Suzlon said in a communication to the stock exchanges today.
It said the wind farm project to be established north of the City of Quebec, would be developed in two phases.
Construction of the first phase for 150 MW would begin this year and commissioned in December 2014.The second phase of 200 MW is set for commissioning in December 2015. Both the companies together have commissioned 1,275 MW in North America.
Framework pact
The contract is a part of the framework agreement for up to 954 MW signed by the two companies in 2009. Already turbines with an aggregate capacity of 380 MW in a special cold climate version have been installed in three EDF EN Canada wind farms and two of them recently went into commercial operation, Suzlon said.
The Suzlon Energy counter witnessed a huge trading volume with about 3.35 crore shares being traded within the first 15 minutes of trading on the NSE today. The stock gained Rs 1.90 to trade at Rs 23.10.
The stock has gained about 50 per cent from its low of Rs 14.75 it touched on August 31 last year.
