Reliance Power said it has signed a memorandum of understanding with the Rajasthan Government to develop 6,000 MW of solar power projects in the State over 10 years.
RPower’s 100-MW solar CSP (concentrated solar power) project in Rajasthan has gone online. The project was awarded to Reliance Power in December 2010 based on international competitive bidding conducted by NTPC Vidyut Vyapar Nigam Ltd (a subsidiary of NTPC).
The plant will generate about 250 million kilowatt hours of clean and green energy annually, which will be equivalent to the consumption of 2.3 lakh households, the company said.
CSP project
The CSP project is based on CFLR (compact linear fresnel technology) provided by Areva Solar, the US subsidiary of Areva, France.
RPower said it has an operating portfolio of about 6,000 MW, including 185 MW of renewable energy. The company operates two solar plants in Rajasthan of 100 MW and 40 MW.
The renewable energy portfolio also includes a wind power project of 45 MW in Vashpet, Maharashtra.
