In a drive to fill vacancies at the level just below the board of directors, SAIL has elevated a total 27 General Managers to the Executive Directors’ positions. It has also ordered a parallel transfer at the ED level this month.
SAIL’s strength of EDs will now shoot up to 74 from the current 47.
According to SAIL sources, the exercise will involve major relocation of the senior executives. In terms of numbers, this top level changes is the major initiative for the public sector steel maker.
P.S. Srivastava, GM in-charge (Services) of Durgapur Steel Plant, has been made the ED (Chairman’s Secretariat). Ajay Kumar, GM (Finance & Accounts) of DSP, has been promoted as ED (F&A) of DSP.
L.T. Sherpa, GM (P&A) of Alloy Steels Plant, also located in Durgapur, has been promoted as ED (Business Excellence). Atul Srivastava, GM (Chairman’s Secretariat) & additional charge personnel, will assume the charge of ED (P&A) at DSP.
Kolkata located Raw Materials Division got three new EDs. While S.K. Saha is being elevated and relocated, two existing divisional GMs – Alok Shrivastava and P.K. Sinha – have been promoted.
The manpower of SAIL has reached 1, 06,004 as on March 31 from 1, 11,475 as on April 1, 2011, on account of “rationalisation”.
