Steel Authority of India (SAIL) today said it has produced 9.72 lakh tonnes of saleable steel in November, up eight per cent over the corresponding month last fiscal.

“Steel production from plants of SAIL marked a growth of 8 per cent during November 2012 as compared to corresponding period last year (CPLY) with saleable steel production at 9.72 lakh tonnes,” the company said in a statement.

The company said it produced 8.2 million tonnes of saleable steel during April-November 2012, up 2.3 per cent over the corresponding period in the previous fiscal.

“Major techno-economic parameters during April-November 2012 period fared better, with 2 per cent improvement in coke rate and energy consumption and 3 per cent improvement in BF (blast furnace) productivity as compared to CPLY,” it added.
