Sekhani Group has announced to invest ₹150 crore for setting up a manufacturing facility at Sanand in Ahmedabad district to make sanitary napkins under the brand name “Wonder Wings”.
The facility is expected to create more than 1,000 jobs. Announcing its diversification plan, the company said that it has acquired 1 lakh square metre of land.
The facility will have two fully automatic servo machines to produce 12 lakh pieces of sanitary napkins per day, Prakash Sekhani, Managing Director, said.
“We intend to invest and add more facilities in a phased manner with an investment of ₹500 crores,” he said, adding his company’s target is to make 800 million sanitary napkins annually.
This will be Group’s fourth factory in Gujarat, the other three being in the field of textiles.
Wonder Wings also plans to setup facilities for manufacturing diapers for babies and adults, he added.
He pointed out that only 15 per cent of the 45 crore menstruating women population in India use sanitary napkins.
The Group also plans to tie up with the government, NGOs and others to create awareness on this issue.
