Singareni Collieries Company Ltd has set a target of coal production of 100 million tonnes by 2022, against the projected target of 66 million tonnes during the current fiscal.
The state-owned miner, which is in the process of finalising plans for new mines, sees this projected target of 100 mt achievable with the availability of new technology driven mining, according to Chandrasekhar, Director Operations and Bhaskar Rao, Director Planning and Projects.
One of the biggest such mines at Adriala, which is using the Longwall technology has demonstrated how the production can be increased, the company said.
Increase in coal output will play a crucial role in meeting the growing demand for power from irrigation sector and other segments, it added.
The 1200 MW coal fired thermal power project, which was completed after the Telangana Government came into power, is playing a crucial role in addressing the growing demand for power in the new State. The proposed 800 MW super critical technology based plant, which will be developed at the existing power plant is expected to add to the growing power capacity in the State to meet the projected demand in the future.
Singareni officials explained that the thermal power project, which has been consistently performing at high plant load factor, is among top power pants in the country.
