Tata Motors counsel, Mr Samadaitya Pal, on Friday, argued that the Singur Land Rehabilitation and Development Act, 2011 was “bad in law”.
Arguing that the State Act was not in conformity with the Central Land Acquisition Act, Mr Pal maintained that the State Act was silent on issues of compensation.
According to Mr Pal, the State Act was not legislated for a public purpose.
“The Singur Act has not been legislated for a public purpose,” Mr Pal said.
