The Haryana Labour Department has declared the stay-in at Maruti Suzuki Manesar factory illegal and asked the workers to vacate the premises. The Department also said it would initiate action to derecognise the unions of Suzuki Powertrain India Ltd (SPIL) and Suzuki Motorcycle India Pvt Ltd (SMIPL).

The stay-in protest at Manesar plant of Maruti Suzuki began on October 7, and there has been no production since.

The company said it would consider talks with the agitating workers only after the plant premises are vacated. “No talks are possible as long as the striking workers are inside the factory premises,” a company statement said on Thursday.

The Gurgaon plant produced only 600 vehicles against the normal daily production of 2,800 vehicles, owing to the strike at SPIL, which supplies diesel engine and transmissions to Maruti Suzuki.

To stop production: Meanwhile, the company has decided to suspend production at the Gurgaon Plant on October 14 and 15 in view of non-availability of components.
