Suzlon Group’s subsidiary, REpower Systems, has a bagged an order worth A$260 million for the supply of 131 MW of wind turbines to Meridian Energy, Australia.
The company will supply the wind turbines to Mt Mercer wind farm project in Victoria.
This is REpower’s first contract with Meridian Energy and the company’s largest ‘supply & install’ contract for its MM series turbines in Australia. The turbines are scheduled for commissioning between September 2013 and January 2015, Suzlon said.
Chris Judd, CEO of REpower Australia, said: “This underscores REpower Australia’s longstanding commitment to the Australian wind energy industry and the opportunities presented by the renewable energy target which will deliver around 7 GW of new wind generating capacity in Australia by 2020.”
