Suzuki Motorcycle India Ltd (SMIL), a subsidiary of Japan’s Suzuki Motor Corp, has unveiled two new two products to take on the competition posed by new entrants in the domestic market.

The company has launched a 110 cc scooter Let’s, and a 155 cc premium luxury motorcycle Gixxer.

The scooter would be available in the market from February, while the motorcycle would be available for sales from July or August, SMIL Executive Vice-President Atul Gupta said.

The Suzuki Let’s is available in five colours and has a mileage of 63 km per litre (under Suzuki's test conditions), while the Gixxer is a sporty motorcycle.

The company has a production capacity of one lakh units per annum for both these products. However, the company did not announce the prices of both the products.

Bollywood actor Salman Khan, who has been endorsing the company’s bikes for the past two years, unveiled the motorcycle. SMIL also announced Bollywood actor Parineeta Chopra as its brand ambassador.

SMIL is also planning to launch two new products  — another scooter and a bike — in this calendar year, Gupta said, without providing further details. The company would also increase the number of touchpoints to 1,000 from the current 600, and standalone dealerships to 400 from the current 300 this year.

Gupta, who forecasted a flat growth for the two-wheeler industry, said the entry of new players was intensifying competition in the two-wheeler segment.
