A number of minority shareholders of Tata Group have filed a suit for damages against the interim chairman Ratan Tata and 29 others, following the ouster of Cyrus Mistry. The suit, which is at the pre-admission stage, is yet to be listed for hearing.
According to the Bombay High Court website, the suit was filed on December 7, 2016, by Pramod Premchand Shah, Kalpana Shah, Vinesh Shah and Jesal Bhansali.
“We have been made aware of a representative suit against Tata Sons, filed by some individuals, claiming to represent non-promoter shareholders of Tata companies. We are studying the plaint filed in the Bombay High Court,” Tata Sons’ statement said.
“Tata Sons will strongly defend all its actions in the court of law,” it added.
