Tata Power said its renewable energy capacity has crossed 500 MW with the commissioning of a 25-MW solar plant at Palaswadi, Maharashtra. Tata Power has a total operating capacity of 460.6 MW from wind farms and 54 MW in solar. The company’s total generation capacity stands at 8,585 MW, with 1,170 MW from clean energy sources.
Anil Sardana, Managing Director, said: “Tata Power is committed to reduce its carbon footprint through ‘clean and renewable energy’ generation and further diversify its energy portfolio to reduce fuel price risk. The company has aggressive plans of additional generating capacity by 2022 and would target 20-25 per cent contribution from clean and green energy sources.”
