Western Coalfields Ltd plans to enhance coal production by 150 per cent, in order to help Coal India achieve coal production target of one billion tonnes by fiscal 2020, Piyush Goyal, Union Minister of State (IC) for Power, Coal and New and Renewable Energy said here on Thursday. The Minister was addressing the media after unveiling WCL’s roadmap for opening 36 mines/ projects in 36 months. Enhanced production will not only fulfil coal demand of Maharashtra but will also provide relief to the southern areas of the country, he said.
