Experts in information technology are to suggest ways to promote animation and gaming industry in Tamil Nadu.
The Minister for Information Technology, Mr N. Subramanian, said in the Assembly, an expert committee will be constituted to look at ways to boost this segment, a fast growing area in entertainment and media industry.
This was among the announcements by the Minister in the Assembly following the debate on the demand for grants to the Ministry.
All the Government Departments are taking action to shift to IPv6 (Internet Protocol Version-6) from the present IPv4, which is in vogue. This shift will open out the availability of Internet addresses. The Departments can take advantage of the opportunities that open up online following the shift.
The State has a significant presence in IT industry with 3.50 lakh people employed in IT and related areas. Software exports in 2011-12 are expected to touch Rs 48,000 crore from Rs 42,100 crore in the previous year.
The State Government will soon be coming with a policy to further grow investments in IT through foreign and domestic investments, he said. (EOM)
