Helen LaFave, US Consul General in Kolkata, on Tuesday said the Federal Government shutdown will not impact issue of visas to Indian citizens.
“At this point of time, issuing visas is not going to be affected. The Consulate General is open. Visas are part of the Consulate’s operations and normal Consulate operations are open throughout the country,” LaFave said here.
She was speaking to the media on the sidelines of an interactive session organised by the Indian Chamber of Commerce.
LaFave also pointed out that she would keep track of the developments “closely”.
