Singapore’s casino watchdog will launch a full-scale inspection on two casinos this year to ensure that the operators are complying with all rules and regulations.

Chairman of the Casino Regulatory Authority (CRA),Mr Richard Magnus, said that the inspection is timely as both Resorts World Sentosa (RWS) and Marina Bay Sands (MBS) would have sorted out any kinks in their operations after being in operation for more than a year.

The inspection would be in addition to the regular monitoring of the casinos, according to a report by the ’Channel News Asia’ on Saturday.

The full scope of inspection would include detailed on-site inspection of electronic gaming equipment deployed in the casinos as well as comprehensive checks on the casino operations.

Magnus stressed that the casino inspection was necessary to determine whether the operators were complying with the Casino Control Act, its regulations and licensing requirement, internal controls and approved game rules.

“We take seriously the task of upholding the reputation of Singapore as a clean respectable gaming jurisdiction. Where the casino operators have breached regulatory requirements, we have stepped in and taken disciplinary actions where appropriate,” Magnus was quoted as saying. The CRA had censured or penalised the casino operators from its regulation monitoring.

It had fined last month RWS S$530,000 ($427,000) for paying the casino entry levies for media representatives and not maintaining its surveillance system and processes to the standards required.
