Active participation of blenders lifted prices of good liquoring tea varieties at Kochi auctions. The market for good liquoring teas in CTC dust was firm to dearer by Rs 2 to Rs 3 and more as the sale progressed. The quantity on offer in sale no 28 was 10,13,500 kg. Upcountry buyers lent fair support and exporters operated with lower limits, the auctioneers Forbes, Ewar& Figgis said.

However, the orthodox dust market barely remained steady. The quantity on offer was 16,500 kg. Exporters and upcountry buyers absorbed a small quantity offered. In Cochin CTC dust quotation, good varieties fetched Rs111-151, mediums at Rs75-126 and plain grades quoted at Rs 67-79.

In leaf category, the market for select best Nilgiri brokens and whole leaf in orthodox grades was steady to firm and sometimes dearer. It also witnessed some withdrawals. The quantity on offer was 2,24,500 kg. In CTC leaf, the market for good liquoring teas was firm to dearer. Others were irregular and lower especially browner teas. The quantity on offer was 58,500 kg.

Waterfall SFD quoted the best prices of Rs152 in dust grades, while Chamraj Green Tea FOP-Sup came to the top in leaf varieties, quoting Rs352.
