New pepper with low bulk density from Kerala's southern districts was available on Friday at ₹450 a kg. Imported pepper was being offered at ₹450/kg in the primary markets of Kottayam district.
On the terminal market, seven tonnes of pepper (mixed with imported stuff) arrived from the High Ranges and were traded at ₹470 a kg. Spot prices moved up further by ₹100 a quintal to ₹45,200 (ungarbled) and ₹47,200 (garbled). Export prices were at $7,625 a tonne c&f for Europe and $7,875 for the US.
