This week at Sale Number 4 at Kolkata tea auction centre, the average prices of both orthodox and CTC varieties were lower than those in the last week’s sale (No. 3), according to J Thomas & Company Private Ltd., the tea auctioneers.
Thus, the average price of orthodox at Rs 163.45/kg was lower than last week’s Rs 164.41. The corresponding figures for CTC were Rs 139.44 and Rs 136.72 a kg respectively.
An estimated 81.14 per cent (87.29 per cent) of orthodox and 84.26 per cent (78.27 per cent) of CTC volumes offered were sold.
