The Rubber Board has conducted an EUDR sensitisation programme for rubber product manufacturers in Kochi to create awareness among the manufacturing fraternity on supply chain mapping, development of traceability systems, and geo mapping of plantations, which are pre-requisites for complying with EU regulations and issue of a due diligence certificate.

As many as 70 participants, including representatives from tyre manufacturing companies, attended the programme.

Regulation on deforestation-free products (EUDR) will be implemented by the European Union with effect from January 1, 2026. Under the regulation, any operator or trader who places commodities on the EU market must be able to prove that the products do not originate from land that has been deforested after December 31, 2020, and they must also comply with the laws in the country where they were produced.

As rubber and rubber products fall under EUDR listed commodities, the Board has initiated actions for geo-mapping of plantations to facilitate the issue of Due Diligence Certificate to NR/NR products exporters to EU countries. At this juncture, it is advised that rubber product manufacturers attend this sensitisation programme on priority, said a press note.
