Last week's auctions here reflected the general mood across world markets: there is less demand for the 7m/kg that came under the hammer.
Ex-Estate totalled 1.3m/kg and recorded a marginal increase over that of the previous week. Quality of Westerns showed a general improvement and in this context, the overall demand was disappointing, said Forbes & Walker Tea Brokers.
Low Grown's constituted 3.6 m/kg in the leafy/tippy catalogues. There was fair demand but at lower levels. Main buyers were from CIS, Dubai, Muwait, Saudi Arabia and Iraq.
