The management of a private tea garden in West Bengal’s Jalpaiguri disrict have declared a lockout following a wage dispute.
The district’s Deputy Labour Commissioner, Chandan Dasgupta said the management declared lockout of the Ramjhora tea garden, with a labour strength of nearly 900 labourers at Birpara today.
There was resentment among the tea garden labourers on payment of wages following which production was affected.
Efforts are on to bring about a solution, Dasgupta said.
