The country's apparel export increased marginally by 0.1 per cent at Rs 50,862 crore in FY 11 from Rs 50,813 crore in FY 10, a top industry body said today.
In dollar terms, apparel exports increased by 4.23 per cent at $11,163 million in FY 11 as compared to $10,710 million in FY 10, Apparel Export Promotion Council (AEPC), the apex body of apparel exporters, said in a release here.
There was a pick up in exports from November 2010. In March 2011, exports increased by 18 per cent at $1,209 million over the same month last year, the release said.
The apparel imports of the US, a key market, saw an increase of 16.9 per cent in February 2011 from the corresponding period of previous year and amounted to $11.7 billion.
