The Union Cabinet that discussed the Coal Regulatory Bill on Thursday did not reach a consensus on whether the coal regulator should be given rights to decide pricing of the commodity.
“The Cabinet was not convinced that the regulator should be entrusted with pricing powers,” the Coal Minister, Mr Sriprakash Jaiswal, told reporters in New Delhi on Friday.
The Union Cabinet referred The Coal Regulatory Bill to a Group of Ministers (GoM). Mr Jaiswal said the GoM would soon meet to fix the issue.
