The special court for Central Bureau of Investigation has, on Thursday, sent senior IAS officer and former Secretary Industries (including mining) Ms Srilakshmi to judicial custody till December 12 in the illegal mining case.
Ms Lakshmi was shifted to the Chenchalguda prison in the evening. She was arrested on Monday from her office of the Family Welfare Department.
Even though the CBI had sought her custody for 10 days, the court granted custody only for three days and directed it to produce her in the court today.
Suspended
Meanwhile, the State Government suspended Ms Srilakshmi from service after the Chief Secretary received a written communication from the CBI confirming her arrest.
According to the rules, any Government employee has to be suspended from the service before completion of 48 hours in police custody.
The CBI had departed from the practice of informing the Government before arresting the IAS officer due to ‘seriousness' of the case, it said.
