Mumbai-based drug-maker, Ipca Laboratories, has acquired Onyx Research Chemicals Ltd, the holding company of the United Kingdom-based Onyx Scientific Ltd.
The 100 per cent acquisition was effected through Ipca’s UK-based wholly-owned subsidiary, Ipca said, without giving financial details. The acquisition brings together two contract manufacturing organisations on a global basis, Ipca added.
Onyx Scientific is a chemistry solutions provider for over a decade and will continue to operate out of its Silverbriar facility (Sunderland, UK) under the Onyx Scientific trade name, Ipca said. Onyx’s capabilities in chemistry services for medicinal, pre-clinical and phase I/II programmes will dovetail Ipca’s capacity in supporting the scale up of programmes from the second phase of clinical trials to commercialisation. Onyx was founded in 2000, and is a chemistry services company and preferred supplier to large pharma and biotech companies, Ipca added.
