Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University, Hyderabad, has signed a memorandum of understanding with the Information and Library Network Centre, an autonomous inter-university centre of the University Grants Commission at Ahmedabad.
The centre promotes open access to scholarly content generated in Indian universities. The centre facilities hosting electronic versions of theses and dissertations in open access with interface to search, retrieve and access theses content.
The technological university will take part in the digitisation of theses to build a digital repository and to promote, share and host its electronic thesis dissertations and other universities' in open access, according to Prof. K. Lal Kishore, Director (R&D) Cell.
UGC is likely to allocate funds for digitising files and thesis.
This will enable the research work and thesis submitted by scholars of the university in all faculties, to be accessed worldwide.
Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University subjects the thesis to anti-plagiarism software check before they are accepted for submission. This is a milestone in the research programme of the university, he said in a press release.
