The area of sowing of kharif crops has crossed 182.4 lakh hectares, according to reports received by the Centre from States.
As on July 4, rice has been sown/transplanted in 45.12 lakh ha, pulses in 7.50 lakh ha, coarse cereals in 27.93 lakh ha, and oilseeds in 14.49 lakh ha, the Agriculture Ministry said.
Planting of sugarcane and cotton is also in progress. Sugarcane has been planted in 43.92 lakh ha and cotton in 35.42 lakh ha as on July 7, the release added.
