Air India's international operations continued to be affected and passengers inconvenienced on Sunday with the airline cancelling seven scheduled flights.
Sunday was the seventh day that Air India's operations were affected due to an agitation by a section of the pilots. On Sunday, Air India's flights from Mumbai to Newark, London and Shanghai were cancelled. From Delhi, flights to Tokyo Narita airport, Frankfurt, Paris and Toronto were not operated due to non-availability of pilots.
Sections of Air India pilots have resorted to industrial action to protest against the management's decision to train pilots from the erstwhile Indian to fly the Dreamliner. Taking a stern view of the agitation, the management has so far suspended 71 pilots who suddenly reported sick, thereby, jeopardising the airline's normal flight operations.
The Government has also made it clear that it will not talk to the pilots till they withdraw their agitation. The industrial action by pilots is causing Air India causing a loss of Rs 12-15 crore a day.
Air India carries about 16,000 passengers a day on its long-haul international flights.
