Adani Petronet (Dahej) Port Pvt Ltd, which operates the Dahej Port in Bharuch district of South Gujarat, on Thursday announced the successful commissioning of the second jetty at the port.
The company, a joint venture between Adani Ports & Special Economic Zone Ltd and Petronet LNG Ltd, said here that it will provide access to the industries and trade for their raw materials in central India and the industrialised South Gujarat.
Dr Malay Mahadevia, Wholetime Director at APSEZ, said the commissioning of the jetty also marks the completion of the second phase of expansion at Dahej Port, which has an annual cargo handling capacity of 20 million tonnes. The Dahej Port handles varied commodities such as coal, silica sand, rock phosphate, steel products and project cargo / machinery items.
The coal import terminal at Dahej is equipped with two jetties with a draft of 14 metres each, thus enabling berthing of large capsize vessels. Both the jetties are equipped with the Gottwald-make mobile harbour cranes.
Last month, the Dahej Port got rail connectivity to help reduce logistics costs for transporting coal to the region.
