Private sector port operator Adani Ports & Special Economic Zone Ltd (APSEZ) has said that the company’s subsidiary Adani Hazira Port Pvt Ltd (AHPPL) has initiated handling of liquid bulk cargo at its Hazira port in South Gujarat.

With the latest development, the company looks to attract customers from the growing chemical industry of south Gujarat.

Adani Hazira Port operates all non-LNG facilities at Hazira. It has successfully handled its first liquid bulk vessel M.T. JBU OPAL, the company informed in a statement on Sunday.

The vessel discharged 4,699 tonnes of vinyl acetate monomer at a record discharge rate of 350 tonnes per hour. The consignment belonged to Visen Industries and Nikhil Adhesives Ltd.

“We are proud to dedicate this facility to the nation and particularly to south Gujarat chemical trade fraternity. Hazira is well positioned to cater to the needs of the liquid bulk market in south Gujarat” said Karan Adani, Executive Director, APSEZ.

“The Hazira liquid terminal is a state-of-the-art facility and will offer huge benefits to the customers in terms of cost and quality service to the customers in south Gujarat like Vapi, Daman, Silvassa, Ankleshwar, Baroda amongst others and also to North India-based customers,’’ Adani added.

Aadani Hazira Port offers 1,00,000 kl of storage capacity consisting of 50 tanks with each tank capacity ranging from 500-3,000 kl.

The second phase of construction for next 1,00,000 kl is already in progress, including a separate base oil terminal of 37,000 kl, the company stated.

Adani Hazira Port has five dock pipelines for simultaneous discharge of chemicals & petroleum products which will ensure quick turnaround of the liquid tankers.

These dock lines are connected to the 3 berths giving flexibility to berth liquid vessel on any vacant berth  with each berth having 12 inch diameter x 4 no (carbon steel) lines and 10 inch diameter x 1 no (stainless steel – 316L).
