Bangalore International Airport Limited (BIAL) — operator of Kempegowda International Airport, Bengaluru (KIAB or BLR Airport) — in conjunction with the Sathya Sankaran (Bengaluru Bicycle Mayor), has announced the opening of the BLR Airport campus to cyclists every Sunday between 6 a.m and 9.30 a.m.

The movement of cyclists at BLR Airport campus was restricted due to safety concerns, which now having improved its road infrastructure, BLR Airport is welcoming cyclists.

“At BIAL, we are pleased to play a part in promoting cycling in Bengaluru. As frontrunner in sustainability-related initiatives, by opening our campus to the cycling community, BIAL reiterates our long-standing commitment to a greener future. We believe that this initiative will encourage more people to take up cycling,” said a BIAL spokesperson.

“All cyclists are requested to follow safety guidelines during the time they spend at BLR Airport,” the spokesperson added.

“As cyclists, it has been our long-standing desire to be able to ride at BLR Airport, with its paved roads and beautiful landscapes. The cycling community looks forward to enjoying this opportunity,” said Sathya Sankaran.

Cyclists from the city can now ride to the Airport on Sunday mornings to enjoy an early morning coffee or have a meal at any of the restaurants that offer a wide range of breakfast choices. A dedicated cycle parking facility will be available near The Quad while their bikes will be monitored by BIAL’s efficient security systems.
