If the Centre clears the recommendation, the Bangalore International Airport could be named after the founder of Bangalore, Kempegowda. The State Cabinet, on Monday, decided to recommend to the Centre to name the airport after the city's founder.
It was also decided at the Cabinet meeting that an all-party delegation would be taken to the Centre to seek amendment to Article 371 of the Constitution for according special status to the Hyderabad-Karnataka region in the State, which is a backward region. The Hyderabad-Karnataka region includes Gulbarga, Bidar, Raichur, Koppal and Bellary districts.
