Port and dock workers have decided to withdraw from their proposed industrial action from mid-December in protest against the delay in implementing revised wage structure.
A decision to this effect was taken in view of the approval given by the Indian Ports Association to implement the Bipartite Wage Negotiation Committee (BWNC) settlement arrived between the management of major port authorities and six major federations of port and dock workers before the Regional Labour Commissioner, Mumbai in all major ports and dock labour board.
C.D.Nandakumar, representing National Coordination Committee of Major Ports & Dock Workers Federations said that the federations during their meeting at Goa decided to resort to indefinite strike in this regard. However, with the decision of IPA in favour of port workers, it was decided to withdraw from the industrial action, he added.
