Mangalore Refinery and Petrochemicals Ltd (MRPL) has moved its first international solid cargo of sulphur to China.
A press release by the company said here on Thursday that the company dispatched 16,500 tonnes of solid sulphur on the vessel — m.v. Dusita Naree — from New Mangalore Port Trust (NMPT) on Tuesday.
The cargo is headed to Zhenjiang Port in China. The customer, Mitsui & Co, had bid online for the 16,500 tonnes of solid sulphur generated from the phase I, II & III sulphur recovery units of MRPL, it said.
Solid sulphur is the by-product of the process. In this, desulphurisation of auto fuels is carried out to make these fuels into environment-friendly Euro grade products. MRPL manufactures Euro IV grade of petrol and diesel and is equipped for commercial production of Euro V, the release said.
