Paradip Port Trust’s mechanised coal handling plant this month achieved its fastest loading record for a Panamax vessel.
Cargo handling of MV Paola Bottiglieri was completed in a record time of 20 hours (from berthing to de-berthing) for 84,656 tonnes, registering an all-time best gross productivity rate of 4,233 tonnes per hour and 1, 01,587 tonnes per day.
PPT's net productivity rate in this case was of 5,084 tonnes per hour for the cargo of thermal coal meant for Andhra Pradesh Power Generation Corporation's plant located at Vijayawada.
"The performance is at par with the international coal loading ports of Australia & South Africa," PPT added in a statement.
