The Centre is waiting for the Tamil Nadu Government to sign a Memorandum of Understanding so that flights between Salem and Chennai can start, RN Choubey, Secretary Civil Aviation, said on Thursday.
“Informally they have told us that they are open to this flight but they have not signed the MoU as yet,” Choubey said when asked when flights between the two airports in Tamil Nadu could start. The Ministry of Civil Aviation has mandated that State Governments enter into MoUs with the Ministry before flights under the regional connectivity scheme can start.
