Switzerland-based Pilatus, which has been looking at Tata Advanced Systems (TASL) to manufacture and supply aero-structures for the PC-12 NG aircraft, has had its first ship-set of wings delivered.
The wings have been accepted and integrated into the flying aircraft. Pilatus had teamed up with TASL for the assembly of PC-12 aero-structures at TASL’s facility in Hyderabad. Under the deal, TASL was to deliver the first complete PC-12 NG structure in the second half of 2016.
TASL would be replacing Poland-based PZL-Swidnik, a Pilatus supplier that was producing the PC-12 structures. Sukaran Singh, CEO, TASL, said the first ship-set of fuselage in manufacturing would be delivered by Q32016. TASL has a dedicated facility in Hyderabad for the PC-12.
TASL’s partnership with Pilatus is also important in the context of Pilatus’ offset obligation resulting from the sale of the PC-7 MkII Training Aircraft System to the Indian Air Force.
