Revenue collected at toll plazas of National Highways touched Rs 14,215 crore in fiscal 2014-15, up 24 per cent from Rs 11,437 crore. Additionally, Rs 9,283 crore was the toll revenue collected in 2012-13.
This revenue was collected from toll plazas operating under the NHAI and Road Transport and Highways Ministry.
Moreover, the government has closed 62 toll plazas after recovery of capital cost and in public interest.
This is according to information shared by Minister of State for Road Transport and Highways Pon Radhakrishnan, in Lok Sabha today.
