The Divisional Railway Manager, South Central Railway, Vijayawada division, Mr Anurag, said that the younger generation should focus on developing entrepreneurship abilities instead of solely looking for job opportunities or career-building.

The future of the country's development depended on the leadership and entrepreneurial spirit displayed by the present generation, he said while being the chief guest at the launch of The Business Line Club at Prasad V. Potluri Siddhartha Institute of Technology at Kanuru here on Tuesday. Mr Anurag said the country was facing many challenges on various fronts and there was enough native intelligence to deal with any of these. He referred to the dabbawalas of Mumbai as a fine example of innovative and creative management strategy.

Ramakrishna, Regional Chief Operating Officer, South East, Tata Tele Services Ltd, said that youngsters would do well if they learnt to do the right things first and always aimed at showing excellence and perfection in everything they did. Mr Ramakrishna pointed out that the rapid changes in the telecommunications sector over the decades had brought a sea change in the way people and organisations function. There was a greater shift towards dependency on the mobile phone for data instead of just voice usage. He further said that a time would soon come when a person would use the mobile phone for almost all purposes including getting medical service.

Mr N. Venkateswarlu, Secretary of the Siddhartha Academy of General and Technical Education, said that the telecommunications sector in the country became vibrant and greatly contributed to the enhancement of living standards by bringing within the reach of people here the latest technologies from across the world. He said the young would have more opportunities in such fast developing sectors and they should be alert to grab them.

The Regional General Manager, The Hindu , Vijayawada, Mr K. Chandrasekaran, made a presentation on how the students should look for a daily update of business news in terms of its depth, width and precision for the sake of getting a competitive grip on current affairs.
