The government has issued a notification banning supply of kerosene under public distribution system (PDS) for any purpose other than cooking and illumination.
According to a notification issued by the Department of Petroleum and Natural Gas, no dealer having stocks of kerosene supplied under the PDS at business premises would refuse to supply kerosene to any consumer on any working day, during working hours.
An official spokesman quoting notification said that the dealer would not sell kerosene higher than that of the price fixed by the government.
Every dealer appointed under the PDS would take adequate steps to ensure that ample stocks of kerosene were available at the business premises including the place of storage at all times.
