Diversified group Pearson is looking for partnerships to expand the reach of its English language tests in the fast-growing Indian education sector.

The >Pearson Test of English (Academic) is a computer-based test for international students aimed at assessing their proficiency in English language.

“We have seen a really positive response for our English language tests in India, which is also one of our priority markets.

“We are also looking at having strong partnerships with various education entities that would help in increasing the reach of our tests,” Global Sales Director for Pearson Language Tests, Mr Carl Rhymer, told PTI.

London-headquartered Pearson is a global media group with interests in education, business information and consumer publishing. It owns well-known publishing firm Penguin and business daily The Financial Times.

According to Mr Rhymer, the Pearson English language test is expected to have a good share of the Indian education market in the coming years.

This English language test helps in assessing speaking, writing and listening skills, among others.

The PTE Academic is accepted by various overseas government departments and education institutions, including Harvard Business School and Yale University.
