The Director-General of Police will decide on shifting of two Italian marines from the Central Prison here. The marines, Salvatore Girone and Massimiliano Latorre, were arrested in connection with the shooting of two local fishermen off the Kollam coast. The DGP will confer with the Additional Director-General of Police (Prisons) before taking a decision, an official spokesman said here. This follows a directive from the Supreme Court, acting on the basis of a specific petition filed by the Republic of Italy. The court had asked the State government to state its position on the request for the marines to be shifted from the prison to a facility in Kochi.
